Shtayyeh: Massacres committed against Palestinians during latest aggression on Gaza are added to Israel’s criminal record

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said today that the massacres committed by the Israeli occupation army during the recent aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of more than 49 people, including 17 children and 4 women, and injured 360 others, are added to Israel’s criminal record in international courts.

“The occupation’s confession of the Jabalia cemetery massacre confirms what was certain from the first moment it was committed, and it also puts the courts and international human rights institutions to the test of credibility and seriousness in dealing with this crime away from double standards,” said Shtayyeh, while urging them to immediately investigate this crime, along with all other crimes committed against the Palestinian people, with the same speed and seriousness with which they deal in other parts of the world.

The premier stressed that the failure of international legal and human rights institutions to take justice measures to ensure that the perpetrators do not go unpunished means that other crimes will be committed.

He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates is following up on the matter at all international levels, including the international legal track and the International Criminal Court so that the international parties assume all their political, legal, and moral responsibilities for the crimes committed against our people.

Shtayyeh also called on the United States and the European Union to condemn the Jabalia massacre crime and stop talking about the occupation’s right to self-defense, or ask the victims to exercise restraint while the occupation soldiers continue to commit their crimes without the slightest disregard for international laws.
