Shura Council Hosts Education Minister to Discuss School Policies and Development

Muscat: The Shura Council today hosted Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, with whom the members discussed the policies and quality of school education, human resources development, and education at private schools in the Sultanate of Oman. The deliberations took place during the 7th regular session of the Council's second sitting in the 10th Term.

According to Oman News Agency, during the session, Dr. Madiha emphasized that, thanks to the support of the government and the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the march of education in the Sultanate of Oman is progressing toward the realization of the desired quality of education. She pointed out that the government has allocated a budget valued at RO 27.4 million for the digital transition project, marking it as a national priority.

The plan aims to develop the digital education system and artificial intelligence (AI) to secure gains from technical programmes and applications in educational curricula, teaching strategies, administrative and educational systems, and digital infrastructure in government schools, said Dr. Madiha.

Dr. Madiha noted that it is anticipated that the new system of educational quality assurance will begin to be implemented during the next academic year (2025/2026). The Ministry has adapted all evaluation tools to align with the standards set by the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education. The system will apply to school achievements, personal growth, teaching assessment, learning environment, leadership, management, and governance, she stated.

Dr. Madiha also added that the success of the educational system is the result of an integrated community partnership among all segments of society, aiming to advance education in the Sultanate of Oman and ensure a bright future for young generations. The session was attended by Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council.
