Gaza: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that six attempts over the past two days to deliver crucial aid to the besieged areas of Northern Gaza governorate have been thwarted by Israeli occupation authorities.
According to Oman News Agency, the three missions scheduled for Tuesday were intended to provide food and water to the residents of Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya. Wednesday’s missions aimed to continue delivering food and water to Beit Lahiya and Jabalia, along with offering protection and psychosocial support for children in Jabalia.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric highlighted the ongoing commitment by the UN to assist those affected by the conflict, noting that four additional access requests have been submitted to Israeli authorities. OCHA warned that the repeated displacement of people is heightening vulnerability as critical resources dwindle, with 79% of the Gaza Strip under active evacuation orders as of Tuesday.
Efforts to enhance the
humanitarian response in southern and central Gaza face significant challenges due to ongoing hostilities, insecurity, and access barriers. The availability of dairy products and eggs is nearly non-existent, and fruits and vegetables are scarce and sold at exorbitant prices, with many items seeing a price increase of over 1,000% since the conflict began.
The ongoing conflict, now entering its second year, has resulted in escalating humanitarian suffering, particularly with severe shortages of fuel and food, as the occupation continues its campaign against the residents of the Gaza Strip.
