Sixth Edition of SMEs Empowerment Initiative ‘Tamkeen’ Kicks Off in Al Buraimi

Al buraimi: The 6th edition of a business training initiative codenamed ‘Tamkeen’ kicked off at the premises of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in Al Buraimi Governorate today. “Tamkeen”, which focuses on the empowerment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), forms part of a training programme aimed at raising the preparedness of SMEs and enhancing their ability to contest government tenders and projects.

According to Oman News Agency, more than 30 owners of SMEs participated in the programme. The OCCI is carrying out “Tamkeen” initiative in cooperation with ‘Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit’, the ‘Authority for Projects, Tenders and Local Content’ and the ‘SMEs Development Authority’ (Riyada).

‘Tamkeen’ initiative helps SMEs in many ways: It enables them to register to ‘Esnad’ platform (Oman’s national, electronic system for managing government tenders and procurement). It also helps the participants to prepare bids in a manner that contributes to raising the competitiveness of local entities in development projects.

‘Tamkeen’ initiative constitutes part of the OCCI’s commitment to empower SMEs and augment their potential to serve the objectives of ‘Oman Vision 2040’ in diversifying the local economy.
