Slain journalist Shireen Abu Akleh awarded Red Saraya Prize for Arab Journalism

Palestinian Minister of Information, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, received today the Red Saraya Prize for Arab Journalism, which was awarded to the late Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.

Abu Akleh, 50, was killed by an Israeli sniper’s bullet while covering an Israeli military attack on the Jenin refugee camp, north of the West Bank, on May 11.

Abu Rudeineh said at the award ceremony held in the Libyan capital Tripoli that slain Abu Akleh raised the voice of Palestine and represented the Palestinian cause in all forums.

“The martyr of the truth sacrificed her life to convey the Palestinian narrative to the world, and we are here to tell you that Jerusalem is in danger… We are confident that the Arab peoples will always stand by our side,” said Abu Rudeineh during the ceremony.
