Muscat: The State Council and the Shura Council convened today for their first joint session of the second annual meeting for the eighth term of the Council of Oman. The session was held under the leadership of Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, the Chairman of the State Council, and focused on resolving items of dispute concerning a number of draft laws.
According to Oman News Agency, the session addressed several contentious draft laws, including those on Electronic Transactions, Public Health, Human Organ and Tissue Transplantation and Transfer, Financial matters, Individual Income Tax, and Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. The discussions aimed to find common ground and reach consensus on these critical legislative issues.
Present at the session were Khalid Hilal Al Ma'awali, the Chairman of the Shura Council, along with members from both the State and Shura Councils, the Secretary General of the State Council, and the Secretary General of the Shura Council. The joint session marked a significant step in the legislative process, as both councils work towards harmonizing their perspectives on these important draft laws.
