Success rate in the ‘tawjihi’ high school general exam reaches over 71 percent, says education ministry

Success rate for Palestinian students who sat this year for the ‘tawjihi’ high school general matriculation exam has reached 71.37 percent, today said the Ministry of Education.

It said announcing the results for 82,924 students who sat for the exam out of which 59,128 have passed it that despite the difficult political and health condition in occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the exams went well and the percentage of students who passed the exam that allows them to start college was relatively good.

Palestine continued to suffer this year from the corona pandemic, which also affected education by forcing online learning. It also suffered from an 11-day Israeli military onslaught on the Gaza Strip in May that caused death of more than 250 people, mainly school students, and heavy destruction to buildings, including schools, that also left a mark on the West Bank.

The highest success rate was in the technology stream as 87.76 percent of the students have passed the exams, followed by the science stream at 85.62 percent, entrepreneurship stream 71.66 percent, vocational training stream 71.23 percent, Islamic Sharia stream 67.02 percent, and last was the arts stream as 65.21 percent of the students have passed, said the ministry.
