Muscat:Sultan Qaboos University will host the 4th International Conference on Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology Applications, beginning on 12 October.
According to Oman News Agency, the event will provide a platform for researchers, academics, and specialists in microbial ecology, biotechnology, and related fields to connect and share knowledge. It will feature lectures from twelve speakers from international universities and institutions, covering topics such as microbial ecology, microbiomes, and biotechnology.
Participants from 28 countries across various regions including the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and Europe will attend the conference. The scientific program consists of 159 contributions, including 41 oral presentations and 118 scientific posters.
The conference will also mark the launch of the Middle-Eastern Society of Microbial Ecologists (MEsME) and involve the Society for Applied Microbiology. The gathering aims to enhance scientific cooperation among institutions specializing in microbiology and biotechnology, while reviewing recent research and developments in these fields.
Additionally, the event will focus on the unique environmental potential of the Middle East, such as its desert and marine ecosystems and hot springs, promoting their use in innovative research and applications.
