AMMAN, The Arab Ministerial Committee in charge of international action to confront illegal Israeli policies and measures in the occupied city of Jerusalem today opened its emergency meeting in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the participation of Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Qatar, Egypt, and Morocco.

Chaired by Jordan, the meeting is expected to discuss the recent Israeli escalation in Jerusalem’s Al Aqsa Mosque and ways to stop it and restore calm.

The United Arab Emirates will also take part in the meeting as the Arab member of the UN Security Council, as well as the Secretary-General of the Arab League.

The meeting is the fourth held by the committee since its establishment by the Arab League last year. It held its previous meeting in Cairo last September.

Israel’s brutal assault on Muslim worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque this week and daily break-ins by Jewish fanatics into the Muslim holy compound has caused international concern of an outbreak of serious violence in the region.
