Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Gen. Abdul Fattah Al Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, at Al Barakah Palace during his private fraternal visit to Oman.
According to Oman News Agency, His Majesty the Sultan extended a warm welcome to Gen. Al Burhan, expressing his hopes for the success of the Chairman's efforts in achieving security, stability, and prosperity for the people of Sudan. In response, Gen. Al Burhan conveyed his gratitude to Sultan Haitham for Oman's continuous efforts under his leadership to support conflict resolution in Sudan through dialogue and peaceful means, as well as for enhancing national unity and prioritizing the national interest.
The meeting focused on the strong ties between Oman and Sudan, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and cooperative efforts. Both leaders highlighted the need to enhance the partnership between the two nations in line with their developmental goals.
The Omani delegation present at the meeting included HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu'amani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office. The Sudanese delegation was represented by Muhi al-Din Salem Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director General of the General Intelligence Service, and Issam Awad Ahmed Metwally, Ambassador of Sudan to Oman.
Earlier today, Gen. Al Burhan's arrival in Oman was marked by a reception at the Royal Airport, attended by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Sheikh Faisal bin Omar Al Marhoon, and members of the Sudanese Embassy in Muscat.
