EU Foreign Ministers Meet in Luxembourg to Tackle Ukraine and Middle East Crises

Muscat: EU foreign ministers will gather in Luxembourg later today to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine, with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam joining the session.

According to Oman News Agency, the talks will focus on the fallout from military escalation in the region, particularly the situation in Lebanon and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as ways to lower regional tensions to safeguard the security and stability of international shipping.

In a video call with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, the ministers will review the situation on the ground in Ukraine, a new round of sanctions, and a proposal for a £90 billion financial loan to support Kyiv. They will also explore cooperation on reconstruction and demining.

The agenda also includes the EU's efforts to advance the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, along with a review of the current political situation in Georgia.
