The Vatican affirms continuation of dialogue and cooperation to achieve peace in the region

RAMALLAH, The Vatican affirmed in a letter to the Presidential Committee for Church Affairs its eagerness to continue dialogue and cooperation to achieve peace among the countries of the region, and that the Pope calls in his prayers for peace to all countries and peoples of the region.

This came in a letter sent by the Vatican to Ramzi Khoury, head of the Presidential Committee for Church Affairs and member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), in response to the communications and efforts made to inform the Vatican of the seriousness of the conditions under which the Palestinians in Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories live.

The Presidential Committee reiterated its rejection of the attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities and extremist settlement groups on Islamic and Christian religious sites, and the seizure of Palestinian property and church properties.

It stressed the need to preserve the legal and historical status of the Holy City, appealing to the churches around the world to listen to the voice of the local church and to work for justice and peace in the holy land of Palestine.
