The West Jerusalem Israeli municipality demolishes a Palestinian-owned house in occupied East Jerusalem

Staff from the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem today demolished, under protection from Israeli forces, a Palestinian-owned house in Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, under the pretext it was built without a permit and.

WAFA correspondent said that the occupation forces, accompanied by a bulldozer, stormed Jabal al-Mukabber and proceeded to demolish the house owned by Ihab al-Hussaini where his family of four people lived, two of them children.

The Israeli municipality handed Hussaini an order to demolish his house in the middle of this month and gave him 21 days to carry out the demolition by himself, or its crews would demolish it and force the owner to pay the demolition costs. Hussaini refused to self-demolish his house, built in 2017, hoping that the demolition will not be carried out.

The Israeli municipality forced the Hussaini family since then to pay two fines, each in the amount of 45,000 Israeli shekels (app. $12,000), which were paid by the family.

The Hussaini house is located in an area of Jabal al-Mukabber where the Israeli municipality recently demolished two other hoses for the Bashir family and has issued demolition orders against 14 other houses in the same area under the pretext of construction without a permit, which Palestinians say is impossible to get, as thousands of housing units are constantly built for Jewish settlers in illegal settlements built on land usurped from the same neighborhood.
