The sultan qaboos university: The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) today launched the 3rd edition of its 'Arabic Language and Omani Culture Programme' organized by the university's International Cooperation Office. The programme will run until 22 February 2025.

According to Oman News Agency, the programme's opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University. Salim Mohammed Al Hajri, Acting Head of the Academic and Student Exchange Department at SQU, emphasized the role of the Arabic language in promoting cultural communication and enhancing knowledge transfer.

He stated that the programme reflects the university's efforts in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, in cooperation with international universities such as Kazan Federal University in Russia, Pusan National University and Dankook University in South Korea, and Peking University in China.

Al Hajri highlighted that the programme aims to equip participating students with skills in speaking, writing, and reading Arabic. It also seeks to promote Oman's cultural and historical heritage through field visits to tourist and civilizational landmarks across different governorates and wilayats of Oman.

Dr. Mohammed Al Ammary, Director of the Centre for Arab Culture (Civilization) at Kazan Federal University, remarked that the programme serves as a bridge for communication among civilizations, allowing students to explore Omani culture, which emphasizes values of peace and coexistence under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

This year, 84 students are participating in the programme, including 71 from the Russian Federation, 7 from the People's Republic of China, 5 from South Korea, and 1 from the Republic of Estonia. The programme features an intensive curriculum combining classroom learning with a practical application system known as "Language Partner," reinforcing SQU's role as a leading international centre of scholarly and cultural influence.
