Acting in cooperation with the Arab Open University in Muscat, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation today launched the 3rd edition of the Research Skills Forum. The two-week forum, which targets postgraduate students, aims to develop and enhance the research skills of students. It comprises a set of training sessions and workshops that cover a wide range of topics related to top quality research Haitham Saleh Al Ya'arubi, Higher Education Ministry Specialist in Building Research and Innovation, said that the forum reflects the Ministry's ongoing efforts to support scholarly research and raise the level of research capabilities among postgraduate students. He added that, during the forum, the students are provided with the tools and knowledge necessary for conducting high-quality research that contributes to enriching knowledge. Dr. Sami Khater Al Mazru'ee, Assistant Dean of the College of Education at the Arab Open University, said that the forum focuses on qualitative research rather than quantitative research. He added that the forum addresses many issues related to research skills needed for conducting qualitative research. Al Mazru'ee pointed out that, among 130 researchers who submitted papers recently, 76 were sorted out as meeting high quality standards needed for Master's and doctoral degree research. He added that the researchers were divided into two groups, each group comprising 38. The Research Skills Forum constitutes an opportunity for students to interact with senior researchers and exchange ideas with them.
