Total Cargo Handled at Shinas Port Exceeds Two Million Tons

Shinas: The total cargo handled at Shinas Port in the North Al Batinah Governorate reached 2,341,498 tons during the first half of 2026, representing the volume of import and export cargo traffic. According to Oman News Agency, the port is witnessing active and continuous movement in the volume of cargo handling for imports and exports, owing to its distinguished geographical location. This contributes to facilitating vessel reception operations and connecting with regional and international trade routes, affirming its growing role within the maritime transport sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Khater bin Ali Al Maamari, Chief Operating Officer at Shinas Port, stated that the port plays an important pivotal role in the logistics sector in the Sultanate of Oman due to its distinct geographical location that connects Oman with the countries of the world. He affirmed that the port has become a hub for transporting and receiving goods, as imports at the port recorded 2,322,695 tons, while exports amounted to 18, 802 tons of the total handling volume. He added that the port received 1,837 ships during the first half of 2026, reflecting a growth in vessel traffic compared to the same period last year, registering an increase of about 156 percent, which is equivalent to more than two and a half times. He explained that statistics showed that building and construction materials were at the forefront of the most important imported commodities during the first half of 2026, while general cargo topped the list of the most important exported commodities for this half of the year. He pointed out that the statistics indicated that during the same period, 103 transshipment operations were carried out, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year. During these operations, a total of 2,296,483 tons were handled. These indicators affirm the growing role of Shinas Port in supporting trade movement and enhancing the efficiency of services provided across various shipping routes.
