Muscat: The Ministry of Education has announced a shift to distance learning and the activation of e-learning platforms across all public and private schools, as well as universities and colleges, in every governorate except Dhofar and Al Wusta. This transition will be effective from Tuesday, 24 March 2026, through Thursday, 26 March 2026, with education set to resume under the regular system on Sunday, 29 March 2026.
According to Oman News Agency, the decision was made following a communication from the National Center for Emergency Management. The communication highlighted the effects of a low-pressure trough impacting several governorates in the Sultanate of Oman. This move aligns with the Ministry's dedication to safeguarding the well-being of students and staff across educational institutions.
The transition to distance learning is expected to ensure minimal disruption to the educational process while prioritizing health and safety in light of the adverse weather conditions currently affecting the region.
