Trees uprooted, well destroyed in a southern West Bank town

BETHLEHEM, The Israeli occupation forces today uprooted a number of olive trees and destroyed a water well.in the town of Taqou, east of the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to a local official.

Taysir Abu Mihreh, director of Taqou municipality, told WAFA that soldiers and staff from the so-called planning department of the Israeli military government broke into the eastern part of the town where they uprooted 20 olive trees and destroyed a water well owned by a local resident.

He said settlers last week set up a tent on a privately-owned piece of land in the same area in a step seen aimed at taking over the land for settlement purposes.
