RAMALLAH, Two people have died after contracting coronavirus in Palestine in the last 24 hours as 258 new cases were confirmed, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.

The two deaths were reported in the Gaza Strip, where 118 new cases were confirmed and 135 patients have recovered.

The West Bank had 140 new cases and 91 recoveries, said Alkaila.

So far, 73 corona patients are getting treatment in hospitals and 39 are in intensive care, while eight are on ventilators.

The active cases remain at 0.6 percent of the total coronavirus cases recorded in Palestine since the outbreak of the disease in March of last year, while 98.4 percent have recovered and 1 percent have died.
