LONDON, The United Kingdom has condemned the recent announcement by the Israeli government to advance further settlement units in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

James Cleverly, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, reiterated his country’s position towards the illegal Israeli settlement activities, adding that settlements are illegal under international law and present an obstacle to peace and stability.

“We urge the Government of Israel to reverse the decisions on 24 October and 27 October to advance the construction of settlement units in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Settlements are illegal under international law and present an obstacle to peace and stability.”
