Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, confirmed yesterday in an interview with Al-Jazeera that there is no alternative to the two-state solution, confirming that the Palestinians are suffering and “living in hell” under prolonged Israeli occupation.
Commenting on the recent escalation of Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories, Guterres said that he is following with great concern the situation in the town of Huwwara, stressing that the Palestinian people are suffering a lot at present, and that life in the Gaza Strip in many aspects is “a life of hell.”
He added that the international community must move strongly to ensure that international law is respected, but he acknowledged that the international community is not able to implement United Nations resolutions, which he said highlights the need for reforms in international governance.
Guterres refused that his organization is practicing double standards regarding the Palestinian issue compared to what it is doing with Ukraine.
