UPDATE: Israeli police attack Palestinians in Bab al-Amoud area ahead of flag march

JERUSALEM, Israeli occupation police attacked Palestinians in Bab al-Amoud area in occupied Jerusalem, injuring dozens and detaining eight others, ahead of the Israeli flag march planned to roam through Jerusalem’s Old City later today.

Forces attacked Palestinians, severally beating them up with sticks, batons, and their rifle butts, as well as used live and rubber-coated steel bullets against them as they were forced to evacuate Bab al-Amoud area, one of the gates to Jerusalem’s Old City, causing injuries to at least 33 people, including four that were transferred to hospital.

Forces also directly opened fire on an ambulance, restricting the movement of the medical staff.

At least eight people, including an injured youth who was denied from being taken to hospital by Israeli forces, were detained and taken to an interrogation center in the city.

Forces reportedly closed all entrances to Bab al-Amour area, sprayed Palestinians with wastewater, forced shop owners to close their shops, and intensified their repressive restrictions against Palestinians ahead of the flag march.

Israeli occupation authorities reinforced its police presence and raised its level of alert throughout the occupied city of Jerusalem, especially in the Old City, amid calls by Palestinian national and Islamic factions in the West Bank and the 1948 occupied land, to confront and thwart the so-called Israeli Flag March, which will be carried out today evening by thousands of extremist settlers.
