US lawmakers tweet against Israel’s ethnic cleansing in Sheikh Jarrah

occupied Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, calling for immediate accountability and an end to unlawful expulsion of Palestinian families in the neighborhood.

Congresswoman Cori Bush said in a tweet, “This week, Israeli police dragged 15 members of the Salhiya family out of their home and then bulldozed it. This is not an isolated incident. This is apartheid.”

“Congress must stop our tax dollars from funding Israel’s apartheid practices,” she added.

Meantime, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “This week, Israel destroyed two homes belonging to the Salhiya family in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah — where attempted evictions last year sparked a deadly war. This cruel act left 15 people homeless. This is unacceptable and must be stopped.”

“Civil rights violations continue to be regularly inflicted on Palestinians living in Occupied Territory. Last week, Israeli troops stopped the car of an 80-year-old Palestinian-American, beat him, and left him to die. State Department must investigate this violence,” added the US legislator.
