US President Joe Biden arrives in the region to meet Israeli, Palestinian and Arab leaders

JERUSALEM, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 (WAFA) – US President Joe Biden arrived this afternoon in the Middle East on his first trip to the region since he became president during which he will meet Israeli, Palestinian and Arab leaders.

Biden is expected to hold two days of talks with Israeli officials before he travels on Friday to Bethlehem where he is scheduled to meet President Mahmoud Abbas before he flies to Saudi Arabia for meetings with Arab leaders.

He is also expected to visit on Thursday Augusta Victoria hospital on the Mount of Olives in occupied East Jerusalem in a show of support for hard-stricken Palestinian-run hospitals in the city.

Reports said that the Americans rejected an Israeli request to have an Israeli health official accompany Biden during his visit to Augusta Victoria hospital since it is located in occupied territory.
