Weather: Low pressure front affects Palestine, rain and thunderstorms are expected

RAMALLAH, A low pressure front is expected to affect Palestine today causing temperature to plummet and approach 7°C below the seasonal average and paving the way to cloudy and relatively cold to cold conditions. Sporadic rain showers, which could be torrential, are expected on most districts, with occasional thunderstorms, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Winds are westerly to southwesterly, moderate to active, and sea waves are medium to high.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and in Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 10°C, and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 12°C and a low of 9°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 23°C and a low of 16°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 18°C and a low of 14°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

The low-pressure front is expected to continue to affect the country tomorrow, Sunday, with temperature remaining 5°C below the average. Sporadic rain showers with occasional thunderstorms are expected in most areas of Palestine.

A further slight rise in temperature is expected on Monday, which remains 4°C below the annual average with a low chance for sporadic rain in some districts.

Another rise in temperature is expected on Tuesday to approach 2°C below the seasonal average, said the PMD, which warned people against low horizontal visibility, slippery roads and flash floods in low areas and valleys for Saturday and Sunday.
