Woman sustains bruises in settler attack in Hebron

A Palestinian woman today sustained bad bruises in a settler attack in the old town of Hebron, according to Palestinian security and medical sources.

The Hebron Government Hospital medics said that Iman Mousa Talahma, 43, received first-aid treatment for bad bruises and scratches after being assaulted by settlers in the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque.

The security sources added that Israeli forces at the scene did nothing to stop the settler attack, but instead detained the woman’s son.

The city of Hebron, which houses the Ibrahimi Mosque, is home to roughly 160,000 Palestinians and about 800 notoriously aggressive Israeli settlers who live in compounds heavily guarded by Israeli troops.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the occupied West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
