Muscat: X has launched a new service enabling users to open interest-bearing accounts alongside a direct peer-to-peer payment feature, as part of its push to become an all-in-one platform.
According to Oman News Agency, the free offering is available exclusively to paid X Premium subscribers in the US. This service includes a Visa debit card and offers an interest rate of up to 6 percent. The accounts are technically hosted by Cross River Bank, which specializes in providing services to fintech companies operating in the online financial sector.
Additionally, the service allows X deposit account holders to make instant, fee-free payments to other users on the platform. This feature sets X apart from other platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok, which rely on external services such as PayPal and HyperWallet or on traditional bank accounts, and are not offered directly by Meta.
