Youth Minister participates in High-Level Global Forum on Youth, Peace and Security

Amman, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, participated in the High-Level Global Forum on Youth, Peace and Security in Amman, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The forum featured participation from Arab League officials, Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports, youth sector leaders from across the Arab world, along with youth delegations and representatives from civil society and international youth organisations. At the forum, which runs until Thursday, the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace, and Security 2023-2028 was launched. This strategy aims to amplify youth involvement in international peace and security efforts, urging Arab member states to explore means to boost youth involvement in shaping the future at all levels. Tawfiqi emphasised that the launch of this strategy is the result of joint Arab efforts to empower young people to support peace and security across the region. The strategy provides Arab youth with a platform for active participation and positive contributions to development, peace, and security, offering them opportunities to implement their initiatives and projects. The strategy includes several noble objectives, including empowering youth and enhancing their involvement in policies related to security and peace, giving them a role in achieving development, and overcoming challenges, she added. The minister also expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the committee members who oversaw the preparation of the strategy, ensuring it serves as a valuable reference for youth to enhance their role in local and international communities. The strategy is organised into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the Youth, Peace, and Security agenda, outlining the vision, mission, and methodology used in developing the strategy. The second chapter focuses on contextual analysis, considering the issues that impact the peace and security of Arab youth. The third chapter delves into the key concepts and guidelines that should be followed throughout the strategy's implementation. The fourth chapter outlines the strategy's priorities and objectives, which are aligned with the five pillars of UN Security Council Resolution 2250: participation, protection, prevention, partnerships, and reintegration. The fifth and final chapter details the implementation approach, outlining the next steps at both national and regional levels, and highlighting the achievements of the Arab region in advancing the youth, peace, and security agenda.
