MANAH: The Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers has commenced a new session, welcoming 47 students from a diverse array of countries including the United Kingdom, Russia, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Belarus, Uzbekistan, South Korea, El Salvador, India, Iran, Australia, and Kazakhstan. The institute, located in the Wilayat of Manah, A'Dakhiliyah Governorate, is also hosting 15 Arabic language teachers from the University of Oriental Studies and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.
According to Oman News Agency, the Sultan Qaboos Institute is not only focused on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and educators but also offers a comprehensive educational experience. The program includes lectures, educational trips to historical and natural sites, lessons in Arabic calligraphy, art courses, and a 'language partner' initiative designed to foster language practice among participants.
The curriculum is designed to encompass various aspects of language acquisition, including theories of second language acquisition, methodologies for learning and teaching foreign languages, and models specific to teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. Participants will also engage in teaching skill development, language examination design, and dialogue sessions. The program extends over an 8-week period for non-native students and 4 weeks for non-native teachers, providing both theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
