Berlin: Represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Sultanate of Oman participated in the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) and the 17th Conference of Ministers of Agriculture held in Berlin. The event focused on the theme "Farming a Sustainable Bioeconomy," bringing together international stakeholders to discuss pivotal agricultural issues.
According to Oman News Agency, Oman's delegation was led by Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture. In his address at the forum, Dr. Al Bakri emphasized Oman's strategic efforts during the period 2021-2024 to enhance food security through an investment program in collaboration with the private sector.
Dr. Al Bakri highlighted that Oman is currently executing 314 investment projects across agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and water resources sectors, with a total estimated investment value of RO 1.266 billion. These projects aim to increase productivity, replace certain imported goods, enhance in-country value, and create employment opportunities for Omani youth, aligning with Oman Vision 2040.
The three-day forum explored strategies to improve the sustainability of the bioeconomy sector and promote innovation to achieve global food security.
