Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has announced the official working hours for the State's Administrative Apparatus and the private sector during the holy month of Ramadan 1446 AH. The adjustments aim to accommodate the spiritual and cultural significance of the period.
According to Oman News Agency, the working hours for civil units within the State's Administrative Apparatus will be five continuous hours, from 9 am to 2 pm. Alternatively, the Head of Unit may implement a flexible working hours system, allowing employees to start and finish their work between 7 am and 3 pm. This flexibility is designed to adapt to the specific needs of each unit while ensuring the required working hours are met.
Additionally, remote work is an option during Ramadan for certain positions, provided it does not disrupt workflow. At least 50% of employees must still attend their workplaces under this arrangement.
For the private sector, working hours for Muslim employees will be reduced to six hours per day, not exceeding 30 hours per week. The Ministry encourages private establishments to adopt modern methods, such as flexible hours and remote work, to enhance productivity and maintain a balance between work commitments and the observance of Ramadan.
