Oman-Morocco Joint Committee Holds 7th Session to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation


Muscat: The Joint Omani-Moroccan Committee today held its 7th session under the co-chairmanship of Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.



According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Badr emphasized the historic and fraternal relations between Oman and Morocco, which are built on trust and mutual respect guided by the directions of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Mohammed VI. He noted the importance of the meeting in affirming both sides’ commitment to consultations and coordination, aiming to broaden cooperation in economic, investment, trade, industrial, tourism, and educational fields. Both nations acknowledged the significance of technological innovations and empowering the private sector.



Nasser Bourita expressed appreciation for Oman’s efforts in promoting peace and stability globally, lauding its balanced foreign policy under Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s leadership. He stressed the importance of building on previous committee sessions’ achievements and activating signed agreements. The Moroccan minister reiterated Morocco’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Oman in economic, developmental, and investment domains, enhancing institutional communication, and sharing expertise.



At the session’s conclusion, the two sides signed four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in digital transformation, renewable energy, mutual recognition of maritime certifications, and sports cooperation, as well as an executive program in tourism. A joint statement emphasized the determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation in economic, investment, trade, educational, cultural, and logistical areas.



The statement highlighted the need for Arab solidarity, respect for sovereignty, and rejection of interference in internal affairs. Both countries condemned terrorism and extremism, calling for enhanced regional and international coordination to combat these threats without associating them with any religion or culture.



Attendees included Khalid Salim Bamakhalf, Oman’s Ambassador to Morocco, Sheikh Faisal Omar Al Marhoon, Head of the Arab Department at the Foreign Ministry, Tarek Lahssisne, Morocco’s Ambassador to Oman, and officials from both countries’ foreign ministries.
