Muscat: Oman Air has announced the launch of flights between Muscat and Amsterdam, marking the airline's 11th destination in Europe. Starting 1 July 2025, the airline will fly direct between Muscat and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol four times per week.
According to Oman News Agency, the new route was announced at a signing ceremony attended by Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oman Air, and Pieter van Oord, CEO of Royal Schiphol Group. The ceremony was held on the sidelines of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's state visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The CEO of Oman Air stated that entering Amsterdam marks the airline's first direct connection to the city. As Oman Air continues to grow, it focuses on destinations that align with its strategic goals and offer long-term opportunities for tourism and business exchange. Europe is the airline's second-largest market in terms of revenue, and Amsterdam is a key hub in the region for both business and leisure travel. The growing economic ties with Oman make it an important addition to Oman Air's expanding European network.
Pieter van Oord, CEO of Royal Schiphol Group, expressed delight in welcoming Oman Air to Amsterdam, highlighting the significance of the direct connection between Amsterdam and Muscat. This link is seen as a milestone in strengthening ties between the two countries and enhancing connectivity for travelers in both directions, with potential benefits for both nations.
The Muscat-Amsterdam service, which will initially operate during the summer season, will be conducted using the latest generation Boeing B787-9 aircraft. Oman Air is providing seamless connectivity to Muscat and over 40 destinations beyond, including Thailand, Zanzibar, Indonesia, India, and Malaysia.
