HM The Sultan Enacts Significant Changes with Three New Royal Decrees

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued three Royal decrees that introduce notable changes in the organizational structure of the Royal Office and other key governmental positions.

According to Oman News Agency, the first of these, Royal Decree No. 46/2025, focuses on restructuring within the Royal Office. It amends the name of "The Secretariat General for Military Affairs" to "The Secretariat General for the Head of Office of the Supreme Commander." Furthermore, it appoints Maj.Gen Sulaiman bin Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Zakwani to the newly designated position of Secretary General for the Office of Head of Office of the Supreme Commander. This decree is to be published in the Official Gazette and will be effective from the date of issuance.

The second decree, Royal Decree No. 47/2025, modifies certain provisions of a previous decree, Royal Decree No. 10/2021, by changing the title "Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence" to "Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence." This change aims to clarify the position's title for administrative purposes and will also be published in the Official Gazette, taking effect immediately upon issuance.

The final decree, Royal Decree No. 48/2025, involves a significant promotion and appointment within the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority. Brigadier Sulaiman bin Ali bin Ahmed Al Husseini has been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed as Chairman of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority. This decree, like the others, mandates publication in the Official Gazette and becomes effective from the date it is issued.
