Muscat:The Oman athletics team has returned home following successful performances at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan, securing both silver and bronze medals. According to Oman News Agency, Basil Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth, welcomed the team at Muscat International Airport's VIP Lounge. Ali Al Balushi earned a silver medal in the 100-meter race with a time of 10.04 seconds, while Mulhim Al Balushi secured the bronze with a time of 10.11 seconds. Ali Al Balushi, part of the athlete preparation centers since 2010 and classified in Category (A), joined the promising athletes project in 2021. He began competing for the national team in 2017, winning two gold medals at the 2019 Gulf Junior Championship and achieving a fourth-place finish at the 2021 World Athletics U20 Championship in Nairobi. He also won gold at the 2024 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in the 60-meter race. Mulhim Al Balushi, who joined the promising athletes project in 2026, has also shown impressive performances. He achieved gold in the 100-meter race at this year's Gulf Cooperation Council Games in Qatar and won a gold medal at the 2024 West Asian Athletics Championship in Iraq and a bronze at the 24th Arab Athletics Championship in Algeria in 2025.
