Bader Nasser to run for IAAF membership

The Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) has nominated Bader Nasser, Treasurer, Chairman of the Public Relations and Media Committee, to run for the membership of the International Athletics Associations Federation (IAAF).

The elections will be held during IAAF’s World Athletics Congress on August 17, on the sidelines of the World Athletics Championships, set to be hosted by Hungary from 19 to 27 August.

Bader Nasser is contesting the elections to highlight the capabilities of Bahraini youth and secure a seat for the kingdom at one of the largest international sports organisations.

Through his electoral programme, Nasser aims to ensure a more distinguished future for athletics, based on his experience in BAA, academic qualifications, distinguished relations with athletics leaders, representation of the kingdom at the 2018 Asian Games and membership of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee during the previous session.

Bader Nasser is looking forward to promoting development and inclusiveness within IAAF, increasing the number of tournaments, building international relations, ensuring the federation’s financial sustainability, diversifying sources of income, and achieving the best management practices.

In his electoral programme, he also focuses on developing talent, building strategic partnerships, and developing athletics in different countries.
