Dhofar Forum Focuses on Enhancing Sustainable Institutionalised Voluntary Work

Salalah: The second edition of the 'Charitable and Voluntary Teams and Committees Forum' was held today in the Wilayat of Salalah, Governorate of Dhofar. Themed 'Role of the private sector in supporting the sector of charitable and voluntary work', the forum was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.

According to Oman News Agency, the forum focused on consolidating the values of donation and social responsibility, promoting sustainable institutionalised volunteer work, and underlining the importance of partnership among companies, institutions, teams, and committees operating in the fields of charity and voluntary work. The event saw a large turnout of charitable and volunteer teams from the Dhofar Governorate, government and private establishments, as well as leaders of community initiatives. It aimed to enhance charitable actions in a way that achieves a deeper impact and more comprehensive service to society, aligning with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

The forum featured two working papers: The first paper focused on the concept of 'corporate social responsibility', targeting companies' contributions to voluntary work. The second paper was titled 'volunteer work as a human experience' and touched on laws regulating volunteering work. Two presentations were also part of the forum: The first was titled "The benign march of donation" and the second was titled "My food donation is my voluntary work".

The event concluded with the felicitation of speakers, companies, and institutions that organized the forum, along with heads of charitable and volunteer teams in the wilayats of Dhofar Governorate. Additionally, Raysut Basic Education School was honored for securing first place in Dhofar Governorate's Volunteer Work Competition.

The forum emphasized the importance of establishing solid societies based on cooperation and solidarity, fostering a culture of volunteer work, and engaging various segments of society-especially youth-in community service. It also highlighted the necessity of supporting partnerships among government, private, and civil sectors to achieve integration in boosting social responsibility, improving the quality of charitable initiatives, and ensuring sustainability, transparency, and positive impact.

The forum underscored the idea that investing in minds is fundamental to the progress of the community sector. It also stressed exchanging expertise between charitable teams, institutions, and companies through public awareness events, measuring the impact of volunteer initiatives, and promoting innovative solutions in community work.
