Muscat: A three-day event titled ‘Muscat International Ophthalmology Conference (MIOC)’ commenced today in Muscat, inaugurated by Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health. Organized by the Medical City for Military and Security Services, the conference emphasizes collaborative research, medicine, and surgery in the field of ophthalmology.
According to Oman News Agency, during the opening, the minister delivered a speech outlining the conference’s objectives and primary themes. This was followed by a video presentation introducing the conference. Subsequently, leaders of international associations and institutes participating in the event expressed appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman for hosting the conference. They highlighted the significance of the event as a platform for enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise, and assisting nations in keeping pace with the latest global advancements in ophthalmology.
The ceremony featured a live broadcast of a sophisticated surgical operation from Krasnov Scientific Research Institute of Eye Diseases, Russia. It concluded with the opening of an exhibition showcasing medical and industrial products related to ophthalmology, along with a surgical laboratory demonstrating the latest global equipment and technologies.
The conference attracts a distinguished group of consultants and lecturers from Oman and abroad, including representatives from six GCC associations and six international associations. The event features specialized scientific sessions, lectures, and workshops.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Medical City for Military and Security Services, dignitaries, commanders, undersecretaries, ambassadors, senior officers, and representatives from Omani government health establishments.
