Ibri: A memorandum of cooperation (MoC) was signed today in the Wilayat of Ibri between Ibri Healthy City and the World Health Organization (WHO). This agreement is part of national efforts aimed at strengthening partnerships that support the Healthy Cities programs, contributing to achieving sustainable development and raising the level of health awareness in the community.
According to Oman News Agency, Sheikh Dr. Said bin Humaid Al Harthy, Wali of Ibri and chief guest of the event, emphasized that the signing of the cooperation memorandum represents an important milestone in the journey of the Healthy Cities program in the Wilayat. He highlighted that the initiative aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 in terms of health, well-being, and community development. He affirmed that the declaration of Ibri as a Healthy City reflects the commitment of various institutions in the Wilayat to enhance the quality of life and build a sustainable urban environment that contributes to improving health services and practices.
Dr. Jean Jabbour, WHO Representative, stated that the joining of the Wilayat of Ibri to the Healthy Cities network confirms the Sultanate of Oman's commitment to promoting sustainable development. He noted that the Wilayat possesses the resources that qualify it to be a model for community initiatives supporting public health. The WHO Office in the Sultanate of Oman will continue to provide technical support and exchange expertise to contribute to expanding the program's scope and achieving its shared vision towards 'Health for All'.
Dr. Ahmed bin Said Al Kalbani, Director General of Health Services in A'Dhahirah Governorate, described the project as a pioneering national step reflecting the strength of the partnership between state institutions and the community. He explained that the Healthy Cities program serves as an effective platform for promoting the quality of life and supporting community initiatives.
The signing ceremony included a visual presentation on the concept of Healthy Cities, along with the signing of several partnership agreements with supporting institutions, such as Daleel Petroleum and Aster Hospital - Ibri branch. The memorandum of cooperation signifies an advanced stage of joint work between national and international bodies, reinforcing the direction towards building a supportive community environment for healthy lifestyles and achieving a sustainable quality of life for the people of the Wilayat of Ibri.
