Oman Engages in Discussions on Fiscal Policies at Abu Dhabi Meeting

Abu dhabi: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the eleventh meeting of the Undersecretaries of Arab Ministries of Finance in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The meeting featured participation from representatives of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting focused on a range of subjects pertinent to fiscal policies. Key discussions included the potential role of artificial intelligence in the development of public fiscal policies and the exploration of sustainable financing opportunities to support sustainable infrastructure.

The event also covered recent progress in the implementation of tax decisions across Arab nations. Additionally, it highlighted the initiatives undertaken by Arab governments to stabilize fiscal positions and ensure the sustainability of public debt.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Finance shared insights into Oman's strategies for stabilizing fiscal positions and maintaining public debt sustainability. The presentation highlighted efforts to enhance public debt management and detailed significant outcomes such as increased non-oil revenues, reduced public debt levels, an improved credit rating, and the achievement of an investment-grade status.

This gathering was part of the preparatory activities for the seventeenth ordinary session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers.
