New york: The Sultanate of Oman today participated in the "First Biennial Summit for a Sustainable, Inclusive, and Resilient Economy," held in parallel with the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, delivered Oman's speech, focusing on the nation's progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Badr highlighted that Oman has accomplished 14 out of the 17 SDGs, reaching over 82 percent completion. He emphasized the Sultanate's commitment to attaining carbon neutrality by 2050, leveraging renewable energy, green hydrogen production, and the adoption of circular and blue economies.
Sayyid Badr outlined several key initiatives, including 'Oman: Sustainable Future' and the 'Oman Future Fund.' He also mentioned the "Energy Transition Fund" established by the Oman Investment Authority to facilitate the transition toward clean energy.
In his address, the Foreign Minister reiterated Oman's dedication to fostering partnerships globally, consistent with its foreign policy principles of peace, coexistence, tolerance, and dialogue.
