Palestinians rally to condemn Israel’s violations in Jordan Valley, settlers’ flag marches

Hundreds of Palestinians today took part in a mass rally in condemnation of Israel’s violations against Palestinians in the northern Jordan Valley area, as well as in response to settlers planned flag marches across the occupied West Bank to mark Israel’s capture and subsequent occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967 Six-Day War.

The secretary of the Fatah movement in Tubas and the Jordan Valley, Mahmoud Sawafta, said hundreds of Palestinians marched in Ein al-Hilwah area in the northern Jordan Valley to protest settlers’ flag marches called for by extremist settler groups and to condemn the Israeli occupation’s measures and violations against Palestinians and their land in the northern Jordan Valley.

He said that a large number of Palestinians were denied access to the rally due to Israel’s closure of the Tayaseer military checkpoint and the erection of a flying military checkpoint earlier today at the conjunction of Ein al-Hilwah to prevent Palestinians from participating in the rally.

The official stressed that the rally aims to deliver a message to the Israeli occupation and its settlers who are trying to impose a fait accompli on the ground that the Jordan Valley is Palestinian land.
