Istanbul: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, have discussed over a phone call the upcoming nuclear talks set to take place in Istanbul on Friday. During the call on Monday, they also discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and developments in Syria, said Turkish diplomatic sources.
According to TRTworld.com, a new round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the three European countries known as the E3, the UK, France, and Germany, is set to take place in Istanbul, Trkiye, on Friday. These talks are part of ongoing efforts to address nuclear proliferation concerns and potential diplomatic resolutions.
Baghaei, a representative involved in the negotiations, mentioned that there are currently no plans to hold talks with the US under the prevailing circumstances. Previously, discussions between Tehran and Washington were facilitated through Omani mediators until Israel's surprise attack on Iran on June 13, which subsequently triggered a 12-day conflict.
The unexpected attack occurred just two days before the planned sixth round of negotiations in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Iran has since accused the US of being complicit in the Israeli attack, which resulted in the deaths of high-ranking Iranian military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In response, the US conducted strikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites, claiming successful obliteration. A ceasefire was eventually reached and took effect on June 24.
