Oman and India Forge New Ties with Executive Programme and Four MoUs

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India signed an executive programme, a joint vision document, and four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Muscat. This significant step was part of the official visit by the Prime Minister of the Republic of India to Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, the signing ceremony included the Joint Maritime Vision Document and an executive program focusing on millet cultivation and innovation in the food and agricultural industries. The four MoUs encompass cooperation in maritime heritage and museums, scientific research, innovation, and skills development, agriculture, and a collaboration between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Key figures in the signing for Oman were Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Issa bin Saleh Al Shibani, Ambassador of Oman to India; and Zakariya bin Abdullah Al Saadi, CEO of OCCI. Representing India were Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs; Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, Ambassador of India to Oman; and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII.

Zakariya bin Abdullah Al Saadi highlighted that the MOU with CII aims to enhance cooperation across economic sectors. This includes exchanging trade delegations and focusing on sectors viable for investment in both countries, while also working to attract Indian investors to Oman.

Chandrajit Banerjee emphasized that the MOU will boost partnerships in investment, commercial, and economic fields. He pointed out opportunities in education, technology, industry, infrastructure, services, and tourism, expressing eagerness for further collaboration with Oman.
