Environment Authority Hosts Symposium on Radioactive Waste Management in Muscat

Muscat: The Environment Authority is organizing a two-day symposium on integrated management of radioactive waste in Muscat, in collaboration with Oman Environmental Services Holding Company. The symposium aims to explore modern methods for managing radioactive waste derived from medical and industrial applications, as well as waste of natural origin.

According to Oman News Agency, the event features participation from experts affiliated with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Attendees include representatives from government departments, academic institutions, research centers, private sector companies, and civil society organizations, all gathering to discuss advancements and strategies in radioactive waste management.

The symposium was inaugurated by Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al Manthari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation, who presided over the opening ceremony.
