Israeli forces detain 29 Palestinians from West Bank

JENIN, Israeli forces Wednesday conducted multiple predawn raids across the West Bank, detaining a total of 29 Palestinians, including a staffer of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and seven former prisoners, said PPS.

Israeli forces raided Qabatiya town, south of Jenin, detaining three Palestinians, including two former prisoners.

They also raided Kaft Ra’i, a town to the southwest of Jenin city, where they detained two Palestinians.

They also detained two brothers after storming and ransacking their homes in Mirka, a village to the southwest of Jenin city. One of the detainees is reportedly a former prisoner who spent 19 years in Israeli imprisonment.

Another Palestinian was detained in similar overnight raid in Jenin refugee camp.

PPS added that four other Palestinians, namely a former prisoner as well as a father along with his three sons, were detained during other raids across the northern West Bank district of Jenin.

Meanwhile, seven Palestinians, including two former prisoners, were detained mostly during raids across the central West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh, including Beitunia city and Deir Nidham village, west and northwest of Ramallah.

One of the former prisoners was identified as Sami Hussein, who spent about 25 years in Israeli prisons and works as a consultant at the PPS Legal Unit.

PPS added that two others were detained during other raids across Ramallah district.

This came as Israeli troops ransacked several homes during a raid that triggered clashes in the Ramallah-city neighborhood of al-Tireh.

Similar raids were also reported in Umm Ash-Sharayet neighborhood, where troops ransacked homes and seized a vehicle.

In Hebron district, forces detained five Palestinians, including two brothers, after breaking into and searching their homes in Yatta town, south of Hebron city.

In Jerusalem, police detained two Palestinians, including a former prisoner, from Shufat refugee camp. Two others were reportedly detained from Jerusalem district.

Another was detained during a similar raid into Dhannaba neighborhood, east of Tulkarem.
