Israeli prison guards assault hunger striking prisoner

RAMALLAH, Israeli prison guards assaulted hunger striking Palestinian prisoner Nasser Eweis in Ayalon prison, in central Israel, according to the media committee of the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission.

The committee said since the beginning of the hunger strike by about 1,800 prisoners in Israeli jails earlier this month, Israel prison authorities transferred Eweis many times between prisons as a punishment.

The prison authorities have also transferred many other prisoners between prisons since the beginning of the strike to pressure them to end their hunger strike, according to multiple rights groups.
