Over 66,000 Teachers to Resume Duties Tomorrow for New Academic Year

Muscat: Over 66,000 teachers, along with administrative personnel and supportive staff, will return to schools across the Sultanate of Oman tomorrow for the 2025/2026 academic year. Students are expected to return to classrooms the following Sunday.

According to Oman News Agency, the government schools in the country will see a total of 66,379 teachers distributed across 1,303 schools. The administrative and technical staff in these schools include 11,183 individuals, comprising 4,420 males and 6,763 females. Special education schools have employed 241 teachers and 46 administrative staff members.

The Ministry of Education has finalized the appointment procedures for new teachers who have successfully passed written tests and personal interviews, aligning with the actual staffing requirements across various specializations.

Saif Mubarak Al Julandani, Director General of Educational Supervision at the Ministry of Education, mentioned that the Directorate will host the third orientation program for new teachers on August 27-28. The program aims to provide practical preparation, essential knowledge and skills, introduce educational projects and developments, and foster positive attitudes toward the teaching profession.

A national plan has been implemented to prepare 100 government and private schools in Muscat, A'Dakhiliyah, and South Al Batinah for external review by the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA). This initiative seeks to enhance administrative and technical readiness, employ self-assessment tools, and improve institutional performance. The Ministry of Education reiterates its commitment to supporting educational staff and providing sustainable programs that contribute to educational development.
