MANAMA, President Mahmoud Abbas and King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain held talks Monday night at al-Sukhair Palace in Manama.

The meeting, which started with a meeting between the two leaders alone before it was expanded to include delegations from both sides, discussed bilateral relations, the results of the Arab Summit recently held in Jordan as well as discussion on diplomatic and political moves on Palestine.

King Hamad later hosted President Abbas at a dinner party attended by officials from both sides.

Abbas also thanked King Hamad for hosting a conference in Manama for Palestinian ambassadors at Arab and Islamic countries, which will convene on Tuesday.

On his part, King Hamad said his country supports the Palestinian people and cause at all times in their pursuit of a just and permanent solution that would give them their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The two leaders exchanged medals as an expression of each one’s efforts to make peace for their people.
