Doha, November 28 (QNA) – QATARGAS said on Wednesday it will deliver its first liquefied natural gas LNG shipment to Singapore next year.
A company statement said that the shipment will be delivered in the first quarter of next year and will be used in launching a regasification terminal being built by Singapore LNG Corp. on Jurong island.
Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the managing director of QATARGAS noted that Qatari LNG was currently playing a significant role in helping many world countries diversify their energy sources.
Singapore’s regasification terminal is the second in south East Asia to be built with QATARGAS help.
A Qatari LNG shipment was sent in June 2011 to inaugurate Thailand’s Map Ta Phut terminal.
Singapore’s new terminal will start operation in the second quarter of 2013 with an initial capacity of 3.5 million tons annually. (QNA)
